Last of the Summer Wine 2021
Aug 24th so it should be a nice sunny night
for a run but it was rather overcast.
No word from our weather guru so I decided to put my rain gear on
and hedge my bets just in case.
It was a very good turnout at Marstons and after a brief chat from
Richard our leader it was 7pm and we were on our way - turn left out
of Marstons, navigate two lots of roadworks, then turn right towards
Anslow, Tutbury, Hatton, Sudbury, Doveridge and various backroads
most of which I’d knowledge of but some were new to me.
Just around 8pm and the light was now starting to fade as we
returned in the direction of Longford turning right into Long Lane
towards Hatton. At the main ‘T’ junction we turned left towards
Hilton then taking the right turn via Marstons fields back to
Rolleston, turning right by the Spread Eagle pub and right again
into Anslow Lane - across Tutbury Rd, up Longhedge Lane, turning
right into Beamhill Rd to Anslow then left into Hopley Rd, left
again onto Henhurst Hill and back to Marstons via the same two sets
of roadworks.
Unfortunately, for various reasons, when we got to Marstons club for
the chip butties there were a few latecomers and
one no show due to battery failure.
Thanks to Brian for organising the night and Richard for leading the
run which turned out to be a very enjoyable dry night and the
catering staff for the food back at Marstons. John Earp
