Ian Marcer Autumn Mist Run - Sunday, 6-10-2024
It was a little disappointing, that Sunday morning dawned grey after the three previous days had been fine. Grey skies usually reduce the number of riders so I wasn't expecting a big turnout and at least it was a dry morning.
Vic was already there when I arrived at 9.45 am. He was looking forward to a breakfast at the cafe but had to wait as they didn't open until 10.00 am. More riders arrived and we stood around having enjoyable conversations.
Vic rejoined us after a hearty breakfast and I gave a quick briefing explaining the "drop off" system we would be using just to be sure everyone knew what to do. There were eight bikes and Bill and June Shackleford joined us in their car.
We left at 10.45 am. The route started and finished at Moira Furnace and used mostly minor roads passing through, Donisthorpe, Measham, Snarestone, Twycross, Bilstone and Market Bosworth before looping back West through Odstone, Newton Burgoland and Oakthorpe.
When we were back at the Furnace I collected £1.00 from everyone to go towards our chosen charity before retiring to the cafe for refreshments. The run was just a little over 30 miles taking an hour and a quarter at a leisurely pace with little or no traffic on dry roads.
Thanks to all that took part and especially Dave Gould for being "last man". Eddy
