Chip Butty Run and Biker Down
John Earp has sent reports on the above events. I thought that the Biker Down workshop was a really worthwhile thing to do. If the opportunity arises for others to do the workshop I highly recommend that people attend. Eddy
On a slightly damp Tuesday evening about
20 bikes assembled at Marston’s club car park for our chip butty
run.
Andy led the group and I was back man on
a thirty mile rural route which took us through Anslow, Hanbury,
Marchington and Uttoxeter then a gentle return route via Abbotts
Bromley and Newborough, before re-joining the road back towards
Anslow and ultimately Marston’s, where we were joined by other
members and partners before tucking into our chip butty served
by Loo and her team at Marston’s club
Thanks to Andy for devising and leading
the run, the caterers and everyone that came along on another
very enjoyable and as it turned out mainly dry evening.
Also fourteen of us gathered at
Staffordshire Police Headquarters on Sunday September 1st for
the ‘Biker Down’ workshop run by - in our case - serving and
retired ex-police motorcycle riders.
The workshop consisted of three one hour
modules covering items such as - what to do at the scene of an
accident - basic life saving skills and further training
opportunities.
It was a very enjoyable and informative
course with plenty of tea breaks and thanks to Rob and Jase our
instructors and also thanks to the many local businesses that
contributed to the complementary first aid kit we were given to
keep but I guess we all secretly hoped we’d never need to use!
Cheers. John
