Pie and Peas 2025 - Tuesday July 8th
A fine sunny evening saw the riders gathered in the car park at Marston's club for the Pie and Peas run led by Brian Amies using the drop off system with John Earp as last man. We'd had some very hot, humid, sticky, days recently so it was nice to have a more comfortable temperature for our evening run. We started at 7.00 pm, turning left onto Forest Road, up Henhurst Hill and away into the countryside. We travelled on a variety of roads, some good, some not quite so good and a few with potholes and a bit of gravel that Brian had warned us about at the start.
We rode approximately 25 miles at a well-judged pace to arrive back at Marston's at 7:50 pm., looking forward to our Pie and Peas. We usually have to form a line to collect our food from a trolley but due to circumstances beyond the caterer's control, the trolley had mechanical issues. An unexpected bonus of the breakdown was having waiter service with plates carried through by catering staff and directed to our tables by Paul Beard.
The ladies made a good job of selling raffle tickets and after enjoying our generous plate of food Andy Roberts started the draw for the raffle. Thank you to all that generously donated raffle prizes.
A nice ride and an enjoyable social evening all round. Below you will find a few photographs I took of the diners. Thank you to everyone that took part. Eddy.
