Last of the Summer Wine Run
Mick Leach has sent thhis report and Brian Slack has sent these photographs. Eddy.
Tuesday 23rd
August 2022.
Burton upon Trent seems to be coming
under siege because not only is there a Shobnall Road closure it
was also announced on social media that the A511 would be closed
at Hatton from Tuesday 23rd for at least a week because of a gas
leak.
We had a longer than usual ride to
Marston's where riders, motorcycles and photographers were
beginning to gather.
I could not be sure but eventually there were over twenty
riders and the car park was pretty full.
We were briefed by Vic our leader that
we would be using the usual drop off system and that Eddy Grew
on his new Honda with orange lights would be tail end Charlie.
Vic managed to break us out of Burton through Rolleston and
across Marston fields into Derbyshire where the route took us
towards Hatton over Broughton Heath to Boylestone, Alkmonton,
Thurvaston, Sutton on the Hill, Hilton and back over Marston
fields on schedule for a timely arrival at Marston's where we
enjoyed, drinks, chip cobs and chat, all in all a pleasant
evening.
Thanks to Vic our leader, Eddy tail end
Charlie and to Brian Slack for organising the chip cobs.
