Chip Shop Run 2023
John Earp sent this report:-
After a busy day looking after our four
year old grandson I was glad that it was the chip shop run in
the evening and we hadn’t got to make an evening meal.
I’d been watching the weather report and it was showing possible
rain on the night but although it was cloudy and dull the rain
stayed away.
Just before 7 pm Richard Ballard explained to us that we’d be
using the drop off system and John Renwick would be back man on
his Triumph. He also said we had to be at the chip shop by
8 pm as they were staying open just for us.
Soon we were on our way out of Burton towards Barton, over the
A38 to Walton and Catton Park.
Through Edingale to Lullington, Botany Bay, Linton, turn left at
the roundabout to pick up the A444 at Castle Gresley and back to
the chippy. It is now called the ‘Urban Chef’ and some not
taking part in the ride were already waiting.
We now had time for a chat over our meal and then it was time to
go. Thanks to Richard for organising the run, John as back
man and the ‘Urban Chef’ for staying open. John
Thanks to Brian Slack for the photographs. Eddy
