Burton Parade 2024

The Burton section of the Vintage Motor Cycle Club held the 40th Burton Parade on Sunday May 12th.  We had a good variety of interesting motorcycles entered and were fortunate to have a beautiful sunny day.  It was a great day for a ride in the good company of fellow entrants.

The start was at Marstons Club in Burton where we were very well looked after by the caterers. Riders were able to have breakfast in the clubroom before the 10.30 am start where Pat Davy gave a little information about each machine before Pam Goodfellow flagged them away.

All riders used the same 33.6-mile route to the stop at the Salt Box in Hatton.  The second part of the route took the total mileage to 63.4 miles.  A little shorter perhaps than in previous years but maybe that was OK as it is not just the bikes that are getting older but us too.  There was also a shorter version of the second half of the route that riders could choose.  The route seemed very good to me and several others said how much they had enjoyed it too.

At the finish back at Marstons Club riders enjoyed the sunshine while they talked about the ride and their bikes before going in for the awards presentation and buffet. The judges for the awards were area Representative Dana Neal and VMCC President Neal Lewis and Neal was also on hand to present the awards to the winners.  We are most grateful to our trophy sponsors for their generosity.

On behalf of our hard working committee I would like to thank all who entered the event, the people who provide video clips, photographs (there are lots of photographs below) and the people who volunteered to help the "administrative wheels to go round" throughout the day. Last but certainly not least thanks to the caterers who provided an excellent buffet, who also went to some trouble to provide a vegetarian option. Eddy.
