Meet the Neighbours Run 2026
This was a Saturday run on May 23rd.
In the past this run has started from Mackworth on the A52.
This year we had a change of the start point to the Coopers
Arms, Weston Hall, a pub in a 17th century mansion house looking
out over a large fishing lake in
Idyllic
grounds. It also has good
hard standing for motorcycles on the large tarmac car park.
Summer had finally
arrived and you might say with a vengeance as it was one of the
hottest days of the year with highest recorded temperature
records being broken all over our country.
The schedule was to arrive from 2.00 pm
onwards for a 2.30 start.
By 2.30 we had a good selection bikes, some from the
Burton Section and the majority from the Notts and Derby
Section. It was far
too hot to stand about in bike kit so after a swift briefing we
set off along our route along mostly minor roads and some quiet
narrow lanes.
Rather than describing the route I have pasted a picture of the
route copied from Garmin Basecamp.
Nearing the end of our run we made a slight
detour in Breeden to go up to the Priory Church of St Mary
and St Hardulph on top of the hill.
Many people would not
have known that the church was there. The views across the
countryside were very good. We only stopped for a short time
before. setting off for the last part of our run a few miles up
the road to the Super Bike Café at Donington Park.
The air-conditioned café gave a welcome respite from the
heat after which people made their own way home.
Many thanks to all those that took part in
the ride and thank you to those people that have sent me
photographs that I can post.
